Global law firm White & Case has named Fergus Saurin and Grace Zhu as partners in its global litigation practice and its global private capital industry group in Hong Kong.

Saurin advises clients, particularly in the private capital market, on multi-jurisdictional litigation and international arbitration disputes as well as crisis management, special situations and contentious restructuring and insolvency matters.

His litigation record spans cases at first instance and appellate level before the English, Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, New York, Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands courts, among others, and his arbitration experience covers cases administered under all major institutional rules as well as ad hoc arbitration proceedings.

Saurin joins the firm from Broadfield Asia, where he was a partner and group head of dispute resolution and investigations. He was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.

Zhu advises private equity investors, global asset management firms and multinational corporations on high-stakes cross-border investigations, regulatory enforcement matters and complex commercial disputes. Her practice focuses on matters involving fraud, securities enforcement, anti-corruption and bribery, anti-money laundering, sanctions, export controls, data privacy and national security.

She has acted in regulatory inquiries and investigations before the US Department of Justice, US Securities and Exchange Commission, Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, and other leading regulators across Asia.

Zhu also advises clients on shareholder and merger and acquisition disputes, directors’ duties, debt recovery, insolvency and asset tracing in court and arbitration proceedings across multiple jurisdictions, particularly Hong Kong, mainland China, the UK and the US. She joins the firm from Broadfield Asia, where she was a partner. She was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.

The addition of Saurin and Zhu, the firm says, reflects its continued investment in its disputes practice in Asia-Pacific, strengthening its private capital, investigations and cross-border disputes capabilities, while building on its established reputation in energy and infrastructure disputes and complementing its leading transactional practices.
