Insurance group Manulife Hong Kong and Macau has appointed Lilian Ng as an independent non-executive director to its board.

She brings more than 35 years of leadership experience in the life and health insurance industry across Asia and Australia. Over the course of her career, she has built, the insurer notes, a strong track record in driving growth, navigating economic cycles and shaping corporate governance standards. As well, she has served on the boards of numerous entities across Asia and has extensive experience engaging with regulators and supporting sound governance practices.

Ng is also a qualified actuary from Australia and has held senior leadership roles across actuarial, finance, strategy and distribution. Her experience includes leading regional business development, building multi-distribution platforms and advancing customer and digital strategies across diverse markets.

Previously, Ng held a range of senior leadership roles at Prudential, including managing director of its strategic business group and regional CEO for Greater China, where she oversaw business and revenue performance across Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.

She also served as CEO, Insurance for Asia, and chief operating officer at Prudential Corporation Asia. Over her 30-year tenure with Prudential, she gained extensive experience across actuarial, finance, strategy and distribution, and contributed to the development of multi-distribution platforms and customer strategies across the region.

Ng’s appointment, the insurer points out, reflects Manulife Hong Kong and Macau’s continued focus on strengthening governance, enhancing independent oversight and deepening Board expertise to support its long-term development.

“Ng’s deep industry expertise, regional perspective and strong governance experience will be a valuable addition to our board,” adds Wilton Kee, the insurer’s CEO. “Her vision, together with her insights into customer strategy, distribution and sustainable growth, will support our long-term growth ambitions as we continue to advance our business in Hong Kong and Macau.”
