Thai Airways leases eight Airbus units from SMBC Aviation Capital
Aircraft will be part of flag carrier’s strategy to grow narrowbody fleet for regional network

SMBC Aviation Capital has signed lease agreements with Thai Airways for eight Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The eight aircraft are from SMBC Aviation Capital’s direct Airbus orderbook and are scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027.

The aircraft will be part of Thai Airways‘ narrowbody fleet growth strategy as the flag carrier expands its regional network.

“The Airbus A321neo aircraft will not only boost Thai Airways operational efficiency, it will enhance the overall customer experience with more comfort and advanced features while also promoting a more sustainable aviation industry," says Conor Stafford, head of airline marketing at SMBC Aviation Capital.

Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, SMBC Aviation Capital is one of the world’s largest aircraft lessors. The company’s portfolio comprises 85% narrowbody aircraft and 70% new technology aircraft ( by net book value ).

The company has a fleet of over 1,000 aircraft ( owned, managed and committed ), and is rated A- and BBB+ by S&P and Fitch respectively.
