
VMS Group has appointed Kevin Gong as managing director, co-head of tech and consumer, private equity, effective March 1, alongside managing director Vanessa Lee, who has been in the role since 2021.
Gong and Lee will jointly lead the overall management of the tech and consumer investment team and oversee the investment management activities. Gong will be focusing on semiconductor, intelligent manufacturing, advanced materials, and new energy, while Lee’s focus remains across the fields of artificial intelligence, enterprise services, robotics and consumer technology.
Both report to Jianming Zou, the group’s head of private equity.
Gong has about 15 years of experience in the technology sector, with a specific focus on hard technologies and consumer industries. He also has led numerous transactions and completed IPO exits.
Gong joins VMS from CITIC New Future Invest in Beijing, where he was general manager for the company. Before that, he was a director at New Horizon Capital in Beijing for 10 years. He began his investment career as an analyst at New Horizon Capital.
VMS specializes in growth capital, with a focus on China-related investments in healthcare, technology (including deep tech) and consumer. The group is dedicated to investing in early-stage, high-growth companies and assisting in unlocking the full intrinsic value of those companies.
